LEIT has been involved in the following activities:

Evaluating the need in industry for education.

LEIT has conducted a survey to determine which skills are the most valuable to employers in localization and related fields. This information can be found in the publications section of this site.

Determining how to advance the state of education in localization.

LEIT has representatives of various universities among its members. In addition, LEIT publicly presented its findings at the Kent State University (KSU) "Language in Business/Language as Business" conference in October 1998. At this conference LEIT presented the first concrete facts on the need for training as well as the availability of training that most participants had seen.
