  ABSTRACT: “It is critical to analyse the advantages and disadvantages of human translation versus human-assisted machine translation. Although several approaches to optimise the efficiency and output quality of a machine translation system exist, this study is focused on the back-end of the machine translation process. Accordingly, various comparative tests are presented, with the aim of offering statistics on human translation speed as a benchmark for carrying out machine translation post-editing measurements.
